In two weeks, HBO will be premiering Schmatta a documentary that brings to life the history of the Garment District, once a vibrant part of Manhattan, that is now slowly becoming extinct. I'm looking forward to learning more about one of my favorite areas to browse and shop for textiles and fancy notions. Hopefully this film will present ways to preserve the community that was once a direct route to the American Dream for immigrants in this Country.
