Writing is one of my favorite creative things to do. Writing enables me to explore my reality and record the world as I see it. One example is a series of short stories I've been working on about a quirky artist named Ruby, and of course, fashion always jumps into the plot! Since I'm having such a good time with Ruby and writing, I wanted to share and be inspired by more voices. I'm also in the middle of a very exciting contest myself so I thought to myself....[insert drumroll please]
I'm happy to announce the first Creative Cookie Fashion Fiction contest! What is Fashion Fiction? It's fashion focused flash fiction in 650 words or less. From magical stilettos to earrings that grant supernatural powers, a serial killing stylist to a bow tie with talking paisleys. It's your imagination - I won't judge you personally, just the writing itself so dare to move an envelope. What's your fashion reality? What is your fashion fantasy? How does it translate into flash fiction?
What happens next?
Submissions will be published on the Creative Cookie blog & in a special edition of Easily inspired--the Creative Cookie zine! One lucky winner will get $50 gift card to Barnes and Noble & other goodies from Creative Cookie sponsors. The winner will be selected by a team of writers who love fashion. Tailor short pieces that you've already started or begin from scratch, just be sure to follow these guidelines.
Guidelines
- all entries must be edited for spelling & grammar and be between 200-650 words
- stories should be included in the body of the email, no attachments please
- writing may be any genre from romance to mystery, but must have a strong fashion focus
- all submissions should be emailed to [email protected], by November 22, with 'fashion fiction' in the subject line
- all submissions should include a 3-4 sentence bio and be sure to include links to your blog or website
