At the age of 90 and with the stellar reputation of being the iconic editor of racy Cosmopolitan Magazine, Helen Gurley Brown has sadly passed away August 13th in NYC. The lively and candid author wasn’t shy when it came to empowering woman and discussing sex, which she made apparent with her 1962 bestseller “Sex & the Single Girl”. Often referred to as the “Original Carrie Bradshaw” from the hit HBO TV series “Sex and the City”, Brown’s aim in her writing and magazine editing was to alter the outlook of the single woman’s attitude towards life, and did so in such a bold way. Her four decades of publishing serve and the establishment of a modern revolution within society has made Brown a deserving cherished memory, although she is no longer with us. Helen Gurley Brown brought to life the idea of women everywhere “Having It All”; a career, a man, authority, and success. She explained the needed tools and the proper paths to acquire everything out of life and in a sense created the liberated modern woman. Brown’s stamp on the world remains forever, for she embodies a true independent woman.
