Last week I SIGNED MY 1st BOOK DEAL. AhhhhhhhhhhhhH!
Lesley Ware aka The Creative Cookie will soon be an Author! I feel excited, humbled, blessed, and slightly exhausted -- what a way to celebrate Women's History Month, eh?
I am writing a guide about style and sewing, for girls, that will feature six original project to sew. Essentially it is everything that I wish I would have known about fashion growing up.
The book is being produced by one of the worlds leading publishers of creative arts titles, Laurence King. I'm ecstatic! Our publication date is scheduled for early 2015 and it will be released in the USA and UK. Hooray!!
A chance to share my words, thoughts, and ideas with the world is surreal and you know I'll make the most of this accomplishment. I'm deeply greatful to my husband, kamau, who planted the seed of writing a book in my head back in 2011. I also have to thank my smart, nice, yet very agressive agent Andrea Somberg, at Harvey Klinger, who has done an amazing job representing me and getting things to this point. And of course, thank YOU lovely creative being who reads this blog. You nudge me forward and motivate me to reach. Please keep it up -- there's so much story to go!
xo,
Lesley
I have to give an extra special thank you to my mom, Gwen, who was brave enough to begin teaching me to sew at age 4. Here we are on a trip in the 80s. I love this photo because Gwen is wearing an outfit that she designed and I'm rocking sunglasses, sew fab!
