On Thursday night, the first-ever Project Runway Junior premiered. We couldn’t believe that these 13 to 17-year-olds are so young—they’re just like miniature versions of the adult Project Runway designers! And they have tons of fashion knowledge beyond average teenagers. Seriously, most adults couldn’t hope to make a fancy evening gown, and they definitely couldn’t do it in one day!
Along with Tim Gunn, who said that he needed 12 “Tim Gunn Saves” to keep every designer, we were super-impressed with these designers. But, there are a few that really caught our eye, and we see them going all the way to the finals. Here are our top three picks for the designers we think are going to go far.
Meet Maya!
She might be the youngest designer at 13-years-old, but Maya has fashion know-how beyond her years. Although Tim Gunn isn’t a huge fan of the color mauve, Maya worked with the color beautifully for her runway piece. And that cutout of the New York City skyline? Modern and sew cool.
Even though he comes from a small town in Kansas, Jaxson seems to have a sixth sense of what’s trending. We looooved his skirt that showed New York City buildings during the day and lit up at night, and the crop top looked perfect with it. Can we order his runway look, like right now?!
Meet Jaxson and Samantha!
Samantha is from Queens, NY, so the New York City challenge was a breeze for her! She seems to really get street style. We would totally wear her crisp white top with cropped jeans—so simple, and yet, so incredibly chic. Way to go, Samantha!
