Our High School of Fashion Industries intern Asatta B. visited The Museum at FIT in August to view Uniformity. Here's what she reported back:
I visited The Museum at FIT to see their exhibit, Uniformity, curated by Emma McClendon. I've never seen so many uniforms in one place! There were uniforms such as soldiers, military, school and fast food clerk. I learned historical facts like uniforms being made for social order, control, and tradition. Uniformity will be at The Museum at FIT's Fashion & Textile History Gallery until November 19th (only 3 days left). I recommend everyone who is into fashion go. My favorite uniforms were:
Military Uniforms
Uniforms are a constant reminder of social order
Stan Herman, McDonald's uniform, polyester, 1976
Jermy Scott for Moschino, 2014
Gucci + Spyder Ski Uniform
Athletic uniforms sometimes borrows elements from military uniforms
