Lesley Ware, the woman behind The Creative Cookie and queen of fashion as a form of self-care, is opening a pop-up shop in the West Village! This shop, called Art to Ware, will act as a platform for artists and creatives to showcase and sell their work. It will also give Lesley the ability to further expand her love of fashion as self-care and share it with others in the form of retail.
Lesley began The Creative Cookie in 2008 and has worked tirelessly to build her brand into what it is today. Her business began as a blog and sewing studio and now has the opportunity to evolve. Along with The Creative Cookie, Lesley is the author of four books- Sew Fab: Style for Young Fashionistas, My Fab Fashion Style File, How to be a Fashion Designer, and 101 Ways to Love Your Style. Lesley has also led and developed education programs for Parsons School of Design, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York Times Student Journeys, and New Visions for Public Schools. She is currently designing a bridal collection that was inspired by her recent nuptials. Thanks to Chashama, a non-profit organization in New York City, Lesley will be given a space to further expand her brand and build this one-of-a-kind pop-up shop.
Lesley said, “I’ve always loved unique retailers, gallery spaces, and making things. This is an opportunity to merge those loves with my personal values while collaborating with artists I admire.” Some of these artists include Ooh Baby, Yellowcake Shop by Valerie Mayen, Elements by Land, Lesley Ware herself, and many more.
The Art to Ware pop-up shop can be found at 21 Greenwich Avenue, New York, NY, and is open now until July 22nd. Hours are Thursday-Saturday 12 pm-6 pm, Sunday 1-5 pm, and Wednesday by appointment only. Go check it out, support a small Black-owned business, and shop from unique creatives who were given the opportunity to sell in this retail space!
