Hello, Stars!
So, I’ve been chatting about it here and there but my new children’s book, How to Be a Fashion Designer, will be released on February 6, 2018! I wrote it this past summer during one of the saddest moments in my life and I’m so happy with how adorable it turned out (despite this fact). Thank goodness for the talented and expeditious team at DK Books in London.
How to Be a Fashion Designer will help girls to learn the secrets of styling, how to design their own clothes and customize pieces that just need an extra pop. The book is 96-pages and has adorable illustrated dolls by my friend, Linden AKA Tiki Papier! I’ve included all my top tips so I think grown-up girls will hopefully appreciate it too!!
The release date is February 6 (less than two weeks away) but you can pre-order now on Amazon and I’ll sign when I see you:). There are several events in the works, the first two are happening on Saturday, February 3! I’ll be doing a talk, signing and demo at McNally Jackson Book Store in Soho at 11:30am and then having a little after party mixer at Five & Dime in Tribeca, starting at 6:00p. There will be an event during NYFW (my fave holiday, lol) as well and a little trip on the road -I want to see you!
Many have been asking how they can support this new book. OK, so to be honest, I need all the support I can get so please go ahead and pre-order now if you’ve not already. Also, connect me with your contacts who might be interested in this title! I’m willing to travel for events or ship a book someplace where it can be seen. Good News! My latest book 'My Fab Fashion Style File' was mentioned in today's New York Times in conjunction with the 10th Annual Brooklyn Museum Children's Book Fair. The event is tomorrow, 11/12, and It's going to be great. I hope you can attend! Pick up a copy or read it online.

It's been magical to have 2 books! Sometimes I sit and stare like 'how did this happen'? Which is the question I'm asked often by aspiring authors. My friend Nicole A. Taylor, author of the UpSouth Cookbook, and I started a workshop series called Bound earlier this year. Bound is our stories, tips and secrets on how we worked our way to getting our book deals. We want to inspire others. It's not easy to come up with a concept, find a publisher, find an agent, and then write it but it's totally doable!
We're working on new formats to present Bound and even taking it on the road in 2017! Please email me if you are interested in learning more (or you can wait for the announcements coming soon:).
