I'll be co-hosting TranquiliT's Spring launch with Julia Coney this Saturday (3/17) at Tranquil Space in DuPont Circle:). So, to all my friends & family in DC come out and see me, new designs, colors + vintage finds (we'll also have tea & yummy treats)! Hope to see you there. Love me in TranquiliT...
I'm drinking kale, carrot, and celery that I juiced as I write this post. I like eating healthy almost as much as I like fashion;).
So, I was intrigued to learn more about the efforts of the NY Coalition for Healthy School Food (NYCHSF) after picking up the Healthy Food in Fashion flier recently. Funds raised at the gala will support the plant-based work that the NYCHSF is implementing in schools statewide. I'm happy to support this worthy cause of helping students to become food- and health-savvy.
The gala will take place THIS evening at the New York Academy of Medicine. Guest will enjoy healthy food and drinks from 24 different vendors + see a 'green' fashion show!
Online ticketing is now closed but you may purchase a ticket at the door!
Last weekend I traveled to D.C. to model for the TranquiliT fall collection!
TranquiliT is a eco-friendly line designed by the delightfully talented Kimberly Wilson. I met Kimberly a few years ago while attending her yoga retreat. TranquiliT recently expanded to include vintage and reclaimed items too. I got to wear the cutest vintage dress and tutu during the shoot -- you'll see it in the video.
In addition to Kimberly, on set were: stylist and make-up guru Julia-- photog Patrick-- videographer Tim.
The experience was creatively overwhelming:).
The photographer in me wanted to shoot, the blogger in me wanted to write, the seamstress in me admired the construction, the stylist in me kept asking questions, and the yogi in me kept transitioning into tree pose. I loved seeing the collection up close and in action.
Watch the video to see the reveal of select nouveau designs and the gorg colours. Also be sure to "like it" + leave a comment on the YouTube page.
TranquiliT's fall line is being introduced later this month -- I'll be sure to let you know when and where!
I'm super excited about being the featured model for the TranquiliT fall collection! TranquiliT is an eco-friendly line of yogawear made from sustainable materials. Here's a look at some of the colors (I ♥ them) for fall 2011. Follow this link to watch the lovely Kimberly Wilson, designer, as she shares collection samples. Take a moment to vote for your favs.
Here's a list of 11 eco-friendly fashion blogs pulled together by Miss Sierra, Creative Cookie's fashion week assistant! These sites illustrate the power of green fashion as it relates to thrifting & vintage, shopping smart, and DIY. Fabrics typically take 100s of years to break down in landfills so we should all have a "mind over material" attitude about decisions that we make. Take a minute to check out these fantastically fashionable sites for use as a point of reference & a lil' eye candy:).

This New York Fashion Week has been full of eco-friendly fashion and of course I'm loving it. Check out my new friend, avent-gaurde designer, Mark Tauriello who I spotted wearing these lego-embelished googles and shirt composed of found items. Mark will be debuting his collection this weekend at Williamsburg Fashion Weekend. He's so Mind Over Material.
More green street fashion from the tents coming soon!
