Mind Over Material

New York Fashion Week Fall Season 2011 is about to get underway and I am more excited than ever – invitations are showing up in my inbox making me smile. This season me and The Creative Cookie team are kicking off Fashion Week by throwing an event called Mind Over Material. This green event is happening Wednesday February 9^th at the LEED certified nightclub Greenhouse from 7pm to 11pm. I can't wait to see your sustainable style!

little spark

I've decided to start crafting again! For awhile I had shifted away, spending more time with photography and writing. Lately I've had the urge to start folding and cutting fabric which I'm really enjoying.  My favorite material to use is rescued textiles. There's something special about using scraps to construct a wearable piece.  Here's a preview of items that will be in the Creative Cookie/Little Spark Etsy store launching later this month, mostly made from scraps.

Like Candy

Every time I drop by Fiber Notion there's something new, colorful, whimsy to love. During my last visit, I spotted these handmade fair-trade fibers, from recycled saree scraps, by Leilani Arts. They inspired me to want to try knitting, crocheting, or weaving. Just yummy:).
